In shampoo formulation, it can reduce the itching, flaking of the scalp and control hair dropping. AXCIDE FK-T also can be used in ship corrosion-proof paints when it’s combined with copper hemioxide to prevent shells and marine plankton adhering to ship shell. It has shown good stability as bactericide and fungicide in the pH range from 4 to 10. Below pH 4.5 the zinc complex dissociates, forming free pyrithione. Above pH 9.5 the zinc complex hydrolyses to yield ionised pyrithione and zincate species. Both free and ionised pyrithione are microbiologically active.
